The University of Alabama

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I receive anything in the mail?

Admitted students are mailed registration materials for Bama Bound beginning in February. Confirmations are mailed when online registrations are received in the orientation office.

Is there a fee?

The basic orientation registration fee is $120 for freshmen and $75 for transfer students. This fee includes testing, academic advising, materials, postage, and a temporary dining card for meals at the Ferguson Center Food Court during Bama Bound.

Payment for Orientation is required at the time of registration and is a non-refundable fee.

How do I register?

Admitted students, who have paid the Freshman Enrollment Deposit and made accommodations for fall housing, may register and submit payment for the appropriate session online through myBama.

Once you have logged in to the myBama system, select the Academics tab. Under the Academics section, select the Orientation Registration link to complete your registration process.

Can my parent or family members attend?

A formal Parent Orientation program is offered during Summer Bama Bound programs.

We welcome parents who wish to accompany their students to their session. Parents can participate in many of the same workshops as students.

We discourage parent participation in Avanti counselor meetings and academic advising sessions, to allow each student the opportunity to establish an independent rapport with his or her Avanti counselor and departmental academic advisor.

How do I change my session?

To change your Bama Bound session to an alternate date, please log in to the Orientation Registration System through the myBama portal. When you have accessed your Bama Bound registration record, use the scroll down session menu to select a new session from the available options in the list.

If you have any questions, please contact us.
