FAQs for Bama Bound


Will I receive a confirmation?

Admitted students are emailed when Bama Bound registration officially opens. An email confirmation is distributed following online registration and payment. If you have paid and did not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours, please contact the Office of Orientation and Special Programs.

Once you have registered and received a confirmation, you will receive additional emails that include a schedule and other important details regarding your Bama Bound session.


Is there a fee to attend Bama Bound?

The Bama Bound Orientation fee is $120 for freshmen and $80 for transfer students. The fee for a parent or family member is $80. Payment for orientation is required at the time of registration and is a nonrefundable fee.


Can my parent or family members attend?

Yes! UA hosts Parent & Family Orientation programs which are offered during all summer Bama Bound sessions. In addition, siblings who are rising freshmen through rising seniors in high school have the option to register for Sibling Orientation.

How do I get to campus and where do I park?

You will receive parking information in your Crimson Mail one week prior to your Bama Bound session.

Where will I stay?

Students staying on campus during their Bama Bound Orientation session will reside in Ridgecrest South. Students will enjoy an apartment-style overnight experience with up to three other members of their incoming class. Students will have a private bedroom within each apartment suite. Visit Housing’s Ridgecrest South page for more information and visual images of orientation housing.

Housing is only offered during Bama Bound in May, June and July. Students stay separately from any guests or parents also staying in housing.

What should I bring to Bama Bound on campus?

We recommend you dress casually and comfortably. In the summer, students and parents will be walking between various campus buildings. Please plan attire appropriately.

Other items you should bring include:

  • Bama Bound confirmation mailer with temporary parking code
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Jacket or sweatshirt (some of the buildings can be cold inside)
  • Pen and paper, phone and laptop (many colleges require them for course registration)
  • Campus Wide Identification Number (CWID)
  • Photo identification (driver’s license, military ID, etc.)
  • Umbrella or raincoat
  • Athletic / activity gear for the evening activity at the Witt Recreational Center

In addition, students staying overnight for summer programs should bring the following items:

  • Overnight bag and toiletries
  • Twin-size bed linens, pillow, towel and blanket (the residence hall can be cold at night)

*There are no linens provided by the residence halls.

What if I’m in Honors College?

The Honors College will be a part of each of the freshman Bama Bound sessions. Students who have been accepted into the Honors College will have direct access to the Honors College within their session.

What if I need disability accommodations?

If you need certain accommodations during Bama Bound, please contact Orientation at 205-348-4999, toll-free 800-933-BAMA or TDD 205-348-3081 at least two full weeks prior to your session.

We work closely with the Office of Disability Services to arrange the appropriate accommodations to assist you during your Bama Bound experience.

Something came up. Can I change my session?

To change your Bama Bound session to an alternate date, please log in to the Orientation Registration System through the myBama portal. When you have accessed your Bama Bound registration record, use the scroll-down session menu to select a new session from the available options in the list.
