Placement testing is available during your Bama Bound session. If you are transferring the appropriate college-level math credit or have scored proficiently on standardized tests, then you are not required to take the math placement exam at Bama Bound.
Each exam may only be taken once except for the math placement exam, which allows one retest after waiting seven days.
You should not be overly anxious about placement testing or attempt to "cram" before the tests; however, you should do your best.
For more detailed information, go to testing.ua.edu/placement.html.
The mathematics placement exam is required for all freshmen and any students who must take a math course at UA who do not already have math transfer credit. This exam is designed to place you in the level of math in which you can be most successful. The exam consists of 55 problems in a computer-based, multiple-choice format. NO CALCULATORS are allowed, but scratch paper will be provided. Go to testing.ua.edu/mathcourses.html for more information, problem sets and a practice test.
If you have had 2 or more years of Spanish, French, German, Latin, or Russian at the high school level and plan to take that language at UA, you must take a language placement exam. Advanced placement and/or college credit is possible.
The computer science placement exam is designed for students who have had several computing courses in high school or are entering UA with a solid background in computing applications. Advanced placement is possible, but no credit is given.
